Information about the route

The route starts with a flat stretch along to Galeata which takes you to Monte delle Forche and then down to S. Zeno. Follow the road for Predappio and, once you get to the centre of the village, go up to the Rocca delle Camminate fortress up to Meldola. You come back on the flat stretch which leads back to Cesenatico.

The town of Galeata

Dominated by the ancient rock, Galeata is rich in valuable history: the old town centre with Tuscan influences; the portico-covered streets and the sandstone. From the centre, another 4 km takes you out to the Church of Saint Ellero, dedicated to the brave hermit (476-558 A.D) and partly rebuilt in 1600.

The crypt houses the marble sarcophagus of the saint, which dates back to the Byzantine period. After a further 2km you reach Pianetto, which is dominated by the medieval fortress of the abbots of Saint Ellero.
